Whole life
A type of permanent life insurance that generally includes a death benefit and cash value. Premiums and guarantees depend on the contract and keeping the policy in force.
Indexed universal life (IUL)
Permanent life insurance with interest-crediting linked in part to an index. Your cash value is not invested directly in that index. Caps, participation rates and other limits affect interest credits.
A 0% index-crediting floor does not prevent policy charges or losses in cash value. Costs and insufficient funding can cause a policy to lapse. Loans and withdrawals can reduce benefits and may have tax consequences.
Retirement income & annuities
An annuity is an insurance contract that can provide income under its terms. Fees, surrender charges, taxes and access restrictions may apply. Guarantees depend on the insurer’s claims-paying ability.
